The 50-year relationship between George and Norma Strait is one out of modern fairy myths. Among the best romance tales in country music is the one born out of their small-town beginnings.

Born on 18th May 1952, Norma Strait grew up in Pearsall, Texas, in Frio County, and is 70 years of age today. Very little of her early life and family background is disclosed. However, she attended the same high school as George.
She embarked on a date with George when he asked her out, but they only got back together after a lengthy break. On December 4, 1971, the pair spared no waiting and exchanged vows in Mexico.
The Strait duo later introduced their first baby girl, Jenifer Lynn, on 6th October 1972. Again almost a decade later, the pair was graced with a son called George Harvey Jr., widely called ‘Bubba,’ on May 14, 1981. The family enjoyed a comfortable life, particularly once George’s profession took off.
However, life was not all flowers for them, as misfortune overtook them on June 25, 1986, as their daughter died in a horrible vehicle incident in San Marcos, Texas, when she was just 13. Following her demise, the pair established the Jenifer Strait Memorial Foundation.
It is a non-profit foundation that thrives on private donations, which are subsequently allocated to child-related charities in the San Antonio region every year.

For the family, life continued. Norma was a full-time home parent until Bubba enrolled in college at Texas A&M in College Station. She then accompanied her spouse on touring till he finished his final Cowboy Rides Away Tour in 2014.
The duo currently live their life as grandparents to their two adorable grandchildren, Bubba, George Strait III, born on 2nd February 2012, and Jillian Louise, born on 10th September 2016, and enjoying their days on their ranch in Cotulla, Texas.
